2025 Red Deer Storm Fall Programs

LEARN TO PLAY FIELD HOCKEY - Red Deer Polytechnic 

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the game of Field Hockey? Have you ever wanted to try playing.? Now is your chance, all skill levels are welcome! Learn the basics of FIELD HOCKEY...it's an exciting game, come and join the FUN!

Sticks provided. Non contact but optional to wear mouth guard or shin pads.

Date: Every Monday: October 6 - November 11 (No session on Thanksgiving Monday)

Time: 7:30pm - 9:30pm 

Location: Red Deer Polytechnic - 100 Donald BLVD

2026 Red Deer Storm Spring Programs

Funstix Storm (U8)

COED U7-8(Ages 7-8, born Jan 1 2017 to Dec 31 2018)

Goal is to develop fundamental movement skills, running, jumping, balance and co-coordinative motor control.

Athletes are introduced to movements in order to develop and discover physical confidence, fun and build a love for field hockey. Athletes will be divided into U8 and U10 groups where numbers permit. 

Anticipated Dates: May 5th - June 25th 2026 Tuesday/Thursday 5:30-7:00pm 

This program consists of two weeknights in the community and two optional Festivals. There is potential to head to Calgary on Sundays for Game play within the Calgary League.

Tuesday & Thursday nights: Skills and Movement Fundamentals/Skills and Match Play (if time is available)

U10/12 Storm 

COED U9-10/U11-12 (Ages 9-11, born Jan 1 2013 to Dec 31 2016)

Goal is continued development of fundamental movement skills of: running, jumping, balance and co-coordinative motor control. Athletes at this stage should develop movement proficiency, confidence and begin skill acquisition. Athletes will be introduced to more unique co-coordinative skills specific to field hockey and match play. 

Anticipated Dates: May 5th - June 25th, 2026 Tuesday/Thursday 5:30-7:00pm

This program consists of two weeknights in the community and the option to attend two optional Festivals. There is potential to head to Calgary on Sundays for Game play within the Calgary League.

Please ensure athletes have mouth guards, shin guards and stick. Sticks are able to be rented or purchased through Field Hockey Alberta.

A valid FHA membership must be purchased for those athletes who did not participate in fall/winter programs. Email FHA to purchase.
