Edmonton Junior Program Administrator - FHA is Hiring!!
The EJP is one of our programs offered to help increase the number of children playing field hockey in our province, develop coummunity coaches, and eventually creating a high performance program in Edmonton. The main duties of the EJP Aministrator is to create programs for kids within the school system, community programs and FHA field hockey leagues for kids starting at 5 and 6 years old. U18 Men & Women's Canada Cup Begins July 15th
The schedule and teams participating are posted on the FHA website, Canada Cup homepage: Canada Cup 2010. Results for the week will be posted on this page, including game results, goal scorers and medal winners. Under 14 - Prairie YouthGames 2010
FHA sent three teams to the 2010 PYG in Winnipeg in July. FHA finished in 1st, 2nd and 5th overall. Congrats to the up and coming athletes who represented Alberta at this event. Check out the kids below!
FHA Coaches Newsletter
We have started a coaching newsletter, new for 2010. FHA staff will highlight events throughout Alberta, Canada and the World. Henre Meyer, our High Performance coach will be covering topcis such as: Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD), Nutrition and athletes, Coaching courses/seminars, Coach Certification and the New NCCP and much more. Carolina Romeo - Senior National Team Carded Athlete 2010
Carolina Romeo, a 17 year old, talented star out of Calgary, has been selected as a carded senior national team athlete for 2010. She will be training throughout the summer in Vancouver with the senior women’s national team and potentially competing for Canada at the upcoming India Series in Vancouver/Surrey in June. All FHA Schedules in One Place! Need to know what kids needs to be where and what time?
FHA has added the Google Calendar application to our website. All provincial team practice and tournament schedules will be posted on our site. Please click on the logo below to take a tour! For now we will just have the complete provincial team practice schedule available, in the future we will be adding individual calendars for each team and other programs as well. An online calendar is available on our website as well if you do not have a Google account, pleaes click the "calendar" link at the top of the page to view it. FHA has a new Executive Board!
At this year's AGM a new President was elected. Kim Ewasechko, a long time athlete, coach, and volunteer for FHA has stepped into the position. FHA is excited to see a passionate and experienced volunteer take over this role. FHUMPIRES.COM Launched February 2010
Calgary, AB, February 1, 2010: John Hrytsak & Keely Dunn, international umpires from Canada, have launched a website and podcast focusing on issues relating to the craft of officiating. The free audio podcasts can be found on the website as well as in the iTunes store in the Amateur Sports and Recreation category under the podcast name Playing Advantage. The website, FHumpires.com, will contain blog posts from Keely & John, transcripts and links to other umpiring resources. Podcast news and updates can also be followed on Twitter and Facebook.
Alberta South and North Finish Top Two!!
FHA sent two teams to the 2010 U14 Boys Prairie Youth Games in Regina, Saskatchewan February 20th - 21st, 2010. The boys had a great weekend! Thank you to Sask Field Hockey for the hospitality and a great event. Please stay tuned for pictures and video from the weekend.

2010 Outdoor National Championships Announced
Alberta provincial teams will take part in the 2010 Senior National Championships in Victoria, June 30th to July 4th, 2010. Our boys and girls U16 teams will participate in the U16 National championships in Mississauga, Ontario, July 20th to 25th, 2010. Details about the 2010 provincial outdoor seasons will be posted shortly.

University of Alberta Pandas Finish 2nd at CIS Championships
The fifth ranked Pandas upset the higher ranked University of Guelph to setup the a west final on the final day. The Pandas played in the gold medal game for the second straight year.
