Interested in trying the exciting sport of field hockey? There is no age limit to when you can start! Field hockey is one of the most popular in the world so there must be something great about it!
Field hockey is a non-contact game of possession, elimination, and tackling.
Players in this class will learn the rules of the game, proper grip and posture, ball and stick control, how to receive, trap, pass and dribble the ball and positioning. There will be fun games and a scrimmage to help reinforce the skills learned.

Airdrie Funstix (Ages 6-9) and Spring League (Ages 10 -14) - Coming Spring 2019!
We will be offering an Airdrie spring league this year for ages 6-14 yr olds! Spring league will consist of Funstix (ages 6-9) and Airdrie Charge (ages 10-14). Practices will be held once a week on Thursdays at 6:30-7:30pm May 2 - June 23. R.J. Hawkey Elementary. There will also be two festivals in June: Red Deer and Calgary. More information on the schedule will follow.
The Funstix program is based on the fundamentals of field hockey. It is designed to introduce kids to the non-contact, fast-paced, skillful and above all, FUN sport of Field Hockey. Older players will focus on basic skill development while introducing team tactics. All skills are taught through fun drills and weekly mini-games.
T-shirts will be provided. New (first year) athletes will receive a stick with registration! Athletes will need shin pads, socks, water bottle and mouth guards.
Cost of the Airdrie Spring program is $100. This includes Field Hockey Alberta membership of $40.
