FUNSTIX U8 CO-ED OPEN OUTDOOR PROGRAM SPRING 2023

For children born January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2016.  Athletes born in 2017 with previous experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

  • Participants are introduced to fundamental movements in order to develop and discover physical literacy,  confidence, fun and build a love for field hockey.  Includes weekday practice and Sunday Fun Games. Sticks provided (with security deposit) or purchased at time of registration.

Three Locations to choose from:

  1. NORTH (UC Hawkings Turf) Mondays April 24-June 20, 2023 5:00-6:00pm
  2. SOUTH (Calgary Soccer Centre) Tuesdays April 25-June 21, 2023, 5:00-6:00pm
  3. WEST   (West Springs Sports Park) Mondays April 24-June 20, 2023 6:30-7:30pm

U10 CO-ED OPEN OUTDOOR PROGRAM SPRING 2023

For athletes born January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2014

  • The U10 Coed program will build off of skills learned in Funstix including: ball control, passing, receiving, shooting, tackling. Athletes will participate in weeknight practice and Sunday U10 Co-Ed Mini League.  Sticks provided (with security deposit) or purchased at time of registration.

Two Locations to choose from:

  1. NORTH (UC Hawkings Turf) Mondays April 24-June 20, 2023 5:00-6:00pm
  2. SOUTH (Calgary Soccer Centre) Tuesday April 25-June 21, 2023 5:00-6:00pm

U12 CO-ED OUTDOOR PROGRAM SPRING 2023

For athletes born January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012

  • This program continues development of fundamental movement skills including running, jumping, balance and co-coordinative motor control. Athletes at this stage should develop movement proficiency, confidence and begin skill acquisition. Athletes will be introduced to more unique co-coordinative skills specific to field hockey and match play. Games are 30 minutes long, 5 versus 5 format. Goalies are welcome in this age group. Athletes will participate in weekly practice and Sunday CJFH U12 Co-Ed League. Sticks provided (with security deposit) or purchased at time of registration.

Athletes who are not affiliated with a local club, may choose from the following two open program locations:

  1. NORTH (UC Hawkings Turf) Mondays April 24-June 20, 2023 5:00-6:00pm
  2. SOUTH (Calgary Soccer Centre) Tuesday April 25-June 21, 2023 5:00-6:00pm

U16 MALE OUTDOOR LEAGUE SPRING 2023

For athletes born January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2010

  • The U16 Male Outdoor league will provide athletes the opportunity to play in a male focussed environment. Includes games and festival play only. Register directly with Field Hockey Alberta. Femaies welcome. Sticks provided (with security deposit) or purchased at time of registration. 

Note: This league is intended for grassroots athletes who have not participated in a Field Hockey Canada Competition.

CJFH CLUB PROGRAMS SPRING 2023

Programs are run by local field hockey clubs. 

  • Clubs will participate in CJFH League games at the University of Calgary Hawkings Field on Sundays, along with weekly practice dates/times of their choice.

Three programs to choose from:

  1. U12 CLUB (For athletes born January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2012)
    participate in Coed U12 League 5v5 format 2x30 min games

  2. U14 CLUB (For athletes born January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2010)
    Participate in U14 Female League or U16 Male League: 7v7 format 1 hr games

  3. U16 CLUB (For athletes born January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2008)
    Participate in U16 Female League (11v11 format 1hr games)
    or U16 Male League (7v7 format 1 hr games)

CJFH SKILLS SESSIONS

Offered to athletes registered in CJFH Grassroots Programs or Leagues

UofC Hawkings Turf
Fridays May 26 - June 16
Group Size 12-20 participants. 
Registration closes May 12, 2023. Register early to secure your spot!

Two programs to choose from: 

  1. U12 SKILLS (For athletes born January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2016)
    For athletes who would like more turf time to refine their field hockey skills, including shooting, passing, tackling, and advanced ball handling.
    Cost: $60

  2. U16 ADVANCED FIELD HOCKEY SKILL SESSIONS (for athletes born January 1, 2007 to December 31 2010) Boost your conditioning and field hockey competency in this 4 week outdoor workshop. Emphasizing on-field skills, conditioning and tactical play.
    Cost: $60

  • Week long half day camps, filled with field hockey, fun games and activities.  New participants welcome!

2 sessions to choose from: JULY 17-21 and AUGUST 7-11

ADULT PROGRAMS

Calgary Ladies Field Hockey Association:

Since the 1990’s, the CLFHA outdoor leagues have grown to 22 outdoor teams playing in three divisions.  There is also renewed enthusiasm for more growth with the possibility of additional facilities becoming available.

With the weather in the prairies being a contributing factor, the indoor game has become a key part of hockey in Calgary where the indoor league continues to thrive and grow.  The number of indoor teams has grown to 23, playing in three divisions.

FHAC strives to promote and develop the game of outdoor and indoor field hockey for men and mixed teams through competitive and recreational games for players, coaches, officials and spectators.

Why do I need a Field Hockey Alberta membership?

The membership categories listed below are to ensure that all of our athletes, both junior and senior as well as coaches and officials are represented at our Annual General Meetings and Special General Meetings. The membership fee includes insurance for all athletes, parents, coaches, volunteers, board members, etc. in case of an accident or emergency. The annual membership fee is mandatory for all members of any Alberta leagues, programs, festivals, tournaments or events.

Membership services include the following:

  1. Infrastructure
  2. Education, Certification and Professional Development for Coaches & Officials
  3. High Performance Provincial team programs, National team camps, regional academies
  4. Hosting Domestic tournament, local tournaments and in the future we plan to host international events
  5. Grassroots and junior development - junior club programs in major centres, for both indoor and outdoor field hockey throughout the year
  6. Communication via website and newsletters to provide our membership with updates from across Alberta and Canada.
  7. Members insurance coverage 

Membership Categories

Senior Player (over 18) - $30.00 (FHC Fees also applicable - $38.00)

Junior Player ( U18) - $23.00 (FHC Fees also applicable - $17.00)

Associate Member - $50.00

Coach/Umpire - $0.00 (FHC Fees applicable - $15.00)

All Membership fees can be paid online through our registration link.

 

 

Individual Membership

For the membership year: September 1st to August 31st, of each year.

Membership Fees are due at the start of your season, please pay at the beginning of the indoor season (fall) and if you haven’t played during the winter months, please pay in the spring in full before the start of the outdoor season.

 

Registration Process

  • Every field hockey player, coach and official is required to register ahead of participation. Each member will be required to pay membership fees for BOTH Field Hockey Alberta (FHA) and Field Hockey Canada (FHC) unless otherwise stated.
  • The new membership year opens September 1 regardless of last date of registration.
  • Members only need register in ONE category.

The option to register will be open throughout the year with the membership year running September 1 - August 31.
