CALGARY JUNIOR FIELD HOCKEY PROGRAMS FALL 2026

Welcome to Calgary Junior Field Hockey (CJFH)! We’re excited to offer a range of field hockey programs for young athletes in fall  2026. Whether your child is just starting out or is ready to take their skills to the next level, we have something for everyone. Our programs focus on fun, skill development, and fostering a lifelong love of sport!

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At CJFH, we believe in creating a positive, athlete-centered experience where kids can grow both on and off the field. We align our programs with Field Hockey Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development framework and Coach Association of Canada (CAC) guidelines, ensuring that all physical and developmental needs are met for each child.

Our aim is to help kids build confidence, make lasting friendships, and enjoy the game of field hockey in a supportive and engaging environment.

OUR PARTICIPANTS

You are welcome here! Our programs are designed for children of all experience levels. Whether it’s their first time participating in a team sport, they’re looking to complement another activity, or they’re already familiar with field hockey, we are here to support your child’s growth.

Programs are divided by age groups:

• U8   - born January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019
• U10 - born January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2017
• U12 - born January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2015

Athletes born in 2020 with previous experience will be considered on a case by case basis. U12, U14 and U16 programs are delivered by our clubs.  See “Club Programs 2026"

OUR COACHES

The safety and well-being of your child is our top priority. Our coaches are thoroughly screened and have completed athlete-specific training, including Ethics, Concussion Awareness, and CAC Safesport certifications. We adhere to the Rule of Two and maintain small athlete-to-coach ratios to ensure personalized attention and a safe environment.

CJFH FUNSTIX U8 and U10 CO-ED OUTDOOR PROGRAM FALL 2026

For children born January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2019.  Athletes born in 2020 with previous experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

• All levels welcome!
• Focus: Program centered on fun games and drills while incorporating basic skills for outdoor field hockey. 
• Includes: Weekday practices 2 Festivals and Sunday Fun Games.
• Equipment: Sticks provided (with a security deposit).

GAMES Sundays at UofC Turf Sep 13 - Oct 18, 2026 12:30-2:00pm (No games Oct 11)                             Note time change for Sept 13 & 20 2:00-3:30

FESTIVALS Calgary Fall Festival (Oct  25)

TURF BASED PRACTICES (shared with U12 and U10 programs) Cost $240

1. UNIVERSITY Mondays 15 Sep to Oct 19 (TBC) No practice Thanksgiving Day (Oct 19)
   UofC Hawkings Turf, Endzone
2. SOUTHEAST Tuesdays Sep 08 to Oct 20 5:15-6:45                                                            MaxWell (Calgary) Soccer Centre

Important Note: All athletes must purchase a FHA/FHC membership for the period of September 1, 2026 to August 31, 2027

CJFH U12 CO-ED OUTDOOR PROGRAM FALL 2026

For athletes born January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2016. Athletes born after 2015 with previous experience will be considered on a case by case basis.

• All levels welcome!
• Focus: Skill development in movement, balance, and coordination, with the introduction of field hockey-specific skills and match play.
• Includes: Weekly practices and Sunday U12 Co-Ed League games (5v5 format). Goalies welcome.
• Equipment: Sticks provided (with a security deposit).
