I understand that the coaches and managers are not responsible for my child/ward before or after the game or practice. Compete/participate in a spirit of fair play and honesty. 2. Refrain from using profane, insulting, harassing or otherwise offensive language in the context of the activities of field hockey. 3. Address fellow athletes, coaches, officials, volunteers, event organizers, spectators and others associated with field hockey in a courteous and respectful manner. 4. Act in a manner that will bring credit to Field Hockey Community and yourself, both within and outside the competition arena and/or competition area. 5. Respect an individuals’ dignity; verbal or physical behaviors that constitute harassment or abuse are unacceptable. (Please refer to the Field Hockey Alberta Harassment Policy) Parent/Guardian Code of Conduct Parents will actively encourage and support the concepts of Field Hockey Alberta at all times. The concepts are: 1.Respect the rules Respect athletes Respect the opponents Respect the Coaching Staff and Officials and their decisions Maintain control at all times 2. Parents, friends or relatives are not permitted near the player’s bench during the games. 3. Parents shall not embarrass their child by yelling at players, coaches, or officials. By showing a positive attitude towards the game and all of its participants, your child will benefit. 4. Parents should learn the rules of the game and support the officials on and off the field and not criticize the referees in the presence of, or within an earshot of any player(s). This will help the development of the sport. Criticism only hurts the game. 5. Recognize the importance of “volunteer” coaches, trainers, and managers. Parents shall leave the coaching to the coaching staff and are not to encourage their child to play the game in a manner inconsistent with the team strategies or plans. 6. Parents shall not use abusive or foul language and any time in the field. 7.
