SPRING FIELD HOCKEY HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAM

The Field Hockey Alberta High Performance Program is for Club and Junior players who want to play at higher more intense level, with a commitment to fitness and field hockey.

 Field Hockey Alberta High Performance training runs between September and July, and is broken into three sessions.

Fall: September - November

Winter: January - April

Spring - Summer: May- July

All players trying out for the High Performance Program must be insured by having membership through FHA.  Athletes who qualify for Team Alberta must be participating in a Spring 2019 Club program.

The Age Groups for 2019 are:

Under 15 - birth year 2004 and under

Under 18 - birth year 2003, 2002, 2001

Under 23 - birth year 2000- 1996 Spring /Summer program only

 

SPRING TRYOUT INFORMATION

Tryouts begin the week of May 13, 2019.   Please note: Attendance will be included in team selection criteria  If you plan to miss a session you must contact Program Director at least 24 hours in advance. Tryout schedule is as follows:

U15 Boys and Girls Tryouts: Friday May 17 - Saturday June 1, 2019 

First Tryout Friday May 17, 2019 Tentative Time: 4:00 - 6:00pm.  Please arrive 30 min early for registration checkin.

Selections

Attendance and sportsmanship will be taken in consideration when making team selection. Players that are selected for the program will be notified on Sunday June 2nd, 2019.  Coaches will be selecting both team members and red shirts. For tryout groups with more than 25 athletes, notification will be made by email.  For tryout groups with 25 or less, notification will be verbal.  Please wait 24 hours after notification for inquiries or comments regarding selection.  

 

SPRING PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Spring 2019 High Performance Program will consist of four components: 1) on-field training practices, 2) strength and conditioning training 3) cardio conditioning and 4) National Tournament in July.

Within a High Performance program players need to have a superior physical condition.  We would like to see the players progress in their fitness level. Strength and Conditioning and Cardio are an integral part of the selection process.  There will be minimum fitness standards for all Team Alberta athletes. 

Athletes will have three weeks of mandatory tryouts prior to selection for the program. Once Team Alberta is selected the schedule will be set up on TeamSnap. We will be confirming that we have the correct email addresses at registration on the first day of tryouts. Please arrive 30 minutes early to register. For each session, athletes will be expected to will mark their availability on TeamSnap and if they will be absent they must communicate directly with their coach at least 24 hours in advance.

We understand athletes may have conflicts, but attendance is critical for your development and the development of the team. Please contact your coach if you anticipate missing 3 or more sessions.
