Tournament #2 - Prairie Youth Games (PYG), Edmonton AB: July 10th - 12th, 2009
The PYG is another fantastic tournament for young field hockey players, specifically for beginners. This will be the 8th Annual Prairie Youth Games, a project started between Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta to encourage youth development and to create a tournament suitable for beginners of our great sport. This is a festival format, more suited for participation then competition and winning. Many of the athletes involved are beginners, who are welcomed by the participants who have attended a few years in a row. This year's format is a 7 a-side tournament played on just half a field. This format encourages skill development and team work amongst the athletes involved. There will be a skills competition and a tournament social for all the teams involved. Alberta will be hosting this year's event and we wish to provide the top level of hospitality and fun for all involved.
