Tournament #1 - Prairie Youth Indoor Games - Regina, Saskatchewan, February 19th - 21st, 2010
The PYG is another fantastic tournament for young field hockey players, specifically for beginners. This will be the 8th Annual Prairie Youth Games, a project started between Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta to encourage youth development and to create a tournament suitable for beginners of our great sport. This is a festival format, more suited for participation.. Many of the athletes involved are beginners, who are welcomed by the participants who have attended a few years in a row. We will base the format on the facility, we could purhaps see a 4 v 4 format, mostlikely we will have a 5 v 5, just as indoor is played elsewhere in Alberta. This format encourages skill development and team work amongst the athletes involved. There will be a skills competition and a tournament social for all the teams involved.
