NCCP Clinic Information

Clinic Registration Closes Wednesday April 20th – Contact  Dawna Morrow at vpcoaching@fieldhockey.ca Or phone her at 403-606-4228 for late registration.

This is a brief summary of the weekend and vital information that you will need! The instructor’s will be Ann Doggat from Field Hockey Ontario and Nancy McCutheon from Alberta.

Location:

Essential information you will need for the weekend:

  1. Participants must have an NCCP number o   If you have not registered for a NCCP number, you must do so before Friday:

o   Go to www.coach.ca

Click on the Locker (top right)

Create a login (follow the prompts)

  1. All participants must have completed Making Headway module prior to Friday o   This is a MANDATORY Pre-Requisite multisport module relating to concussions in sport. Even if you have completed other Concussion training you will need to complete this on-line module.

o   Go to www.coach.ca

o   Login using your NCCP number or email o   Access the Locket (Top Right) o   Click eLearning: Choose Making Head Way in Sport ·  This will take approx 30 mins

 

  1. Participants need to bring stick and wear clothing to be active 4. Bring a lap top or tablet with USB ports as resources will be given electronically

Friday 6:15-9:30

Saturday 9:00- 6:00pm

Sunday 9:00- 12:30 pm

Please arrive on Friday at 6:15 so that introductions and logistics can be taken care of. We will be on the pitch Friday night for a practical session, so please dress for the weather!

NCCP Coaching Clinics April 23rd & 24th

NCCP Field Hockey Coaching Courses have ARRIVED in ALBERTA

Field Hockey Alberta is very pleased to announce the arrival of the new NCCP coaching pathway!

Calgary will be hosting the first NCCP field hockey coaching clinic in over five years!

Participants will earn NCCP experience and work towards being ‘Trained” in either the Community Coach: Fundamentals OR Comp Intro: Learn to Train categories

Option 1: Fundamentals (Community Coach):

Session Details: This is a 12-hour course, which is designed as an entry-level course, suiting all community (Funstix to U14) and club level coaches. Covering essentials such as field hockey practice planning and some key coaching and learning essentials, this course is particularly tailored to the FUNdamentals stage of athlete development.

Who should take this course? New and inexperienced field hockey coaches who want to learn the basics of coaching and of field hockey.

By the end of this course: Once you have completed Parts A & B, you will have obtained a “Trained” status in the FUNdamentals / Community Course

When: April 23rd– 24th 2016

  • Saturday April 23rd 9:00am- 6:30pm
  • Sunday April 24th 9:00am-4:00pm

Location:  University of Calgary

Cost: $50 for FHA members

Instructor: Andrea Gibson

Andrea has coached within the BC field hockey community over the past six years and has been instrumental in coaching and athlete development at the regional and provincial level.

Note:

As the NCCP evolves, there are new requirements. Even experienced coaches with past level 1, 2 or 3 certification will need to re-train and take the new courses. This is a great opportunity to either kick start your coaching career or get re-energized with new ideas, meet other like minded coaches and learn from a top instructor. Option 2: Comp Intro

Session Details: This is a 16-hour course for experienced club, high school and newer provincial coaches who have committed themselves to coaching regularly.

Pathway  and pre-requisites for this course:

  • Participants must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Multi-Sport Modules Required: Making Ethical Decisions, Basic Mental Skills, Design a Basic Sport Program

[*The Calgary session will offer at least one of these modules on Friday night]

  • Evaluation /Certification:
    • Coach submits portfolio for evaluation
    • Confirmation and scheduling of onsite evaluation
    • Complete on-site evaluation process of all 7 outcomes (4 outcomes designated as “advanced)
    • Complete online evaluation of MED outcome

When: April 22nd– 24th 2016

  • Friday April 22nd 6:30pm- 9:30
  • Saturday April 23rd 9:00am- 6:30pm
  • Sunday April 24th 9:00am-4:00pm

Location:  University of Calgary

Cost: $100 for FHA members

Instructor: Ann Doggett

Ann Doggett has been involved in the field hockey community since 1974 as an athlete, coach and leader. Ann first became involved with FHC as  a member of the LTAD committee and Coach Education Committee. For 5 years, Ann served as the Field Hockey Ontario President until 2011. She is currently a Master Learning Facilitator for Community Coach and Introduction to Competition, and a Learning Facilitator for Fundamental Movement Skills and Intro to Competition Multi-Sport.
